The Swedish Royal Treasury with the mysterious name Livrustkammaren is located in the Royal Palace of Stockholm. All this hints at the imperial origin of the antiquities exhibited on public display, which are still preserved in magnificent form. All exhibits Livrustkammarin previously belonged to the royal dynasty of Sweden. They are associated with the military successes of the country and the monarchical system. Founded in 1628 by King Gustav Adolf I.
Knights and ladies
This is the oldest museum of the state. Some items from the exhibition still take part in official royal celebrations. It can be wedding events or coronation.
The royal treasury is located in the huge basement of the Royal Palace. It is for this reason that excursions around Livrustkammarin are of such intense interest among tourists from different countries who can see various ancient hats of knights or magnificent dresses of Swedish princesses.
Many museum visitors bring their children here. Little girls are very interested in queen's wedding dresses, and boys are delighted with knightly armor. For example, in Livrustkammaren you can see a helmet with a crest made five centuries ago, worn by none other than King Gustav Wase.
Careful attention should be paid to antique toys that served as entertainment for the infants from the palace, chariots, weapons and various types of clothing. In Livrustkammarin there is a collection of fashionable clothes of the royal family of Sweden of the last five centuries.
What else so attracts young visitors to the Royal Treasury? Especially for them in the museum there is a room called "Play and Learn", which clearly hints at its purpose. In this room you can explore the historical path of the Swedish monarch of the dynasty, which is presented in the form of a game. In addition, children are always happy to take part in various games. In the room they can do drawing, put on knightly armor or try on a princess dress.
Boys aged 4 to 12 are very interested in the so-called Knight Club at the Royal Treasury. Where, if not in a real castle, you can find out about the code of knight's honor and participate in a real knightly tournament. Parents are also crazy about such fun and instructive amusements of their offspring, and there are more than enough photos after visiting the Play and Learn room. Impressions are enough for the whole year. There will be something to brag about to your friends and what to tell grandmother and grandfather.
To get to Livrustkammarene you need to get to the station Gamla stan on the red or green line.
From mid-June to the end of August, the museum hosts excursions in English.
